The two Limerick men brawled on the street stopping traffic this Monday

SHOCKING scenes of a violent street brawl have emerged online this Monday evening which left Limerick shoppers and pedestrians scrambling for cover as two men traded blows in broad daylight on a busy city centre street.

The video, which runs to almost three minutes, captures the two men fighting as they were goaded and encouraged by others to fight on William Street.

The footage of the incident is being shared on social media to thousands.

At one point in the footage, the violent row between the two young men spills out on to the main road, stopping traffic as others circle around.

The men are encouraged to throw punches, “uppercuts” and “jabs” at each other as the bloodied brawl halts passing pedestrians.

With one man bare-chested, the pair trade punches before the second man strips to the waist to continue after he is knocked to the ground.

Shocked shoppers were seen in the footage taking to doorways to avoid the incident while others curiously stopped and captured the scenes on their mobile phones.

The video, which has gone ‘viral’ was posted online on Monday evening and has been shared more than 250 times with upwards of 40,000 facebook ‘views’.

The two men briefly stopped their fight but were quickly encouraged to square up again.

At one point the fighters are encouraged to shake hands if they are finished before the cameraman shouts “if ye are not, keep going”.

Another man tries to push the fighters together again shouting “he’s not done, go on in to him again, swing him”.

The two men who were understood to be “settling a score”, were left bloodied and bruised before the brawl ended with both men walking away.

The matter is being investigated by gardai at Roxboro Road and Henry Street Garda Stations.
