A LAUNCH party with banter bliss built-in will take place at Shannon Rowing Club, Friday May 13 at 8pm. This is when visual artist and teacher Hugh McMahon, from Coonagh, will launch his ‘Limerick Slang: An Illustrated Guide’.
Shannon RC, on Sarsfield Bridge, is celebrating 150 years and this is a gig to which everyone is welcome. McMahon’s handsome, black and white journal of jargon, with 227 original cartoons penned by himself, will be played into significance by the four-piece band, Luggage Doors Operate.
Hugh McMahon, an art therapist, has form in publishing, going back to his ‘Limerick Folktales’ brought out in 2014.
A painter trained at LSAD, he has exhibited solo in several venues locally and other parts.
