The #Limerick woman paid over €400 for the iPhone which turned out to be fake

THE sale of a fake iPhone which duped a Limerick woman out of €400 is now under investigation by Limerick Gardai.

Sgt Justin McCarthy attached to the Crime Prevention office at Henry Street Garda Station said that officers at the station during the week received a complaint from a member of the public who had arranged to buy an iPhone 6 which was advertised for sale online.

According to Gardai, the victim met the seller by appointment at the Jetland Car Park on the Ennis Road and handed over a sum of cash for what she believed was the genuine article.

However, the phone costing almost €400 was found to be a fake.

An investigation is continuing.
