A #LIMERICK woman has been rescued from the River Shannon this Wednesday night by Gardai after she was seen entering the water by a passerby.
Shortly before 11pm, Limerick City and County Fire and Rescue Service received a call from Gardai to reports of a female in her 30’s entering the River Shannon at the Curragower Falls.
Three units of the Fire Service’s Swiftwater Rescue Crews attended, along with its Rescue Boat “FireSwift” – within 3 minutes of receiving the call.
Upon arrival, Gardai had managed to remove the lady from the water.
It’s believed a passerby had seen her in the water and contacted Emergency Services.
The woman, who was suffering the effects of the cold water, was treated by firefighters while awaiting the Ambulance.
Emergency Paramedics with the National Ambulance Service further treated the woman at the scene and she was taken to University Hospital Limerick where her physical njuries are described as non life threatening.
