THE FIRST Diocesan Synod to be held in fifty years opened this week in Limerick.
And an official blessing from Pope Francis was presented to the Diocese to support its deliberations.
Pope Francis’ blessing was handed over to Bishop of Limerick Brendan Leahy, who convoked the Synod in late 2014, by the Papal Nuncio Most Rev Charles John Brown on a visit to Limerick.
The Synod, will culminates on Friday when the delegates gather for three days to consider more than 100 proposals across six separate themes for the future direction of the Church in Limerick.
