IDA Limerick appointment

-

searchIDA Ireland has appointed a Limerick man to help companies in the Mid West expand their operations while working with the industrial development authority’s overseas teams to attract further Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to the region.

Adare native Niall O’Callaghan will manage the IDA Regional Business and Relationship Unit in the Mid West region where he will play a central role in the delivery of the Action Plan for Jobs launched by Taoiseach Enda Kenny last October.

The new Regional Manager said he was looking forward to the role. “The region has so much going for it, the existing base of FDI companies, the large educated population of talent available to companies, the physical, educational and digital infrastructure and a business environment that is competitive and fit for purpose”, he added.

“IDA is committed to achieving an increase in the number of investments in the Mid West Region. To that end. we will be marketing integrated regions that provide the critical mass needed, the all important skills base and the necessary infrastructure and services. Within those parameters, IDA will market specific locations where they meet the requirements of mobile FDI.”

“IDA cannot work in isolation, the best results can be achieved through a collaborative approach with all stakeholders working together. I will continue to do this on two fronts, liaising directly with stakeholders and also through our involvement in the Mid West Action Plan for Jobs.”

IDA Executive Director Mary Buckley said the new appointment was indicative of the region’s continuing development as a successful investment location.

“The region has seen significant investment wins in recent years and now has a strong ecosystem of both indigenous and multinational companies operating across a diverse range of sectors to drive further success”, she added

The new regional manager is a graduate of UL where he received a degree in Production Management and a postgraduate of UCC where he received a Masters in Food Marketing.

After graduation, Niall launched his career in Dublin where he began working in the FMCG business with Robert Roberts Ltd followed by an eight year career in senior management positions with Unilever PLC and other well know consumer brands.

He is a former Irish International athlete and lives in Croagh where he is actively involved in Croagh/Kilfinny GAA Club and the West Limerick Athletics Club.
