#Limerick pensioner attacked at ATM

rp_atm.jpgA ELDERLY pensioner who was withdrawing savings from an ATM machine was attacked on Holy Thursday and Gardai at Roxboro are investigating.

The robbery occurred at Dooradoyle when the elderly woman was attacked while at a bank ATM machine.

Gardai say that this incident happened at the Bank of Ireland ATM in Dooradoyle and the victim was a 75-year-old woman.

“As she was about to use the ATM machine an attempt was made to snatch her handbag and during the attack she was knocked to the ground”, Sgt Justin McCarthy said.

“Fortunately the victim was unharmed.

“Her attacker fled the scene and was driven away by an accomplice who was parked nearby”, Sgt McCarthy added.

Gardai at Roxboro Road later arrested a 33 year old woman and a juvenile in connection with this crime but they are continuing their investigations.
