FOUR teenagers had to be rescued by Limerick Fire Service after becoming stranded on Sunday night on an Island on the River Shannon.
Shortly after 8pm, Limerick Fire Rescue Service were alerted to an incident where four teenage boys had become stranded on an Island whilst out walking near University of Limerick.
The incident occurred on an area of the main River Shannon, near the beginning of the Canal / Guinness Bridge.
Three units from Limerick City Fire Service attended.
Upon locating the group, the Fire Service’s Swiftwater Rescue Technicians made contact and deployed their Rapid Inflatable Rescue Craft.
All four were carried to safety.
It’s believed the teens became disorientated and alerted Emergency Services.
They were attended to by HSE Paramedics, with no life threatening injuries.
Gardai also attended.
