Ambulance and car collide outside Adare Co Limerick

A NUMBER of people have been hospitalised following a road traffic collision on the main Limerick to Tralee road at Adare this Monday evening involving a car and an ambulance.

Shortly after 4:15pm this Monday, the car and the ambulance collided.

Gardai and emergency services attended the scene and the road was reduced to a single lane of traffic.

As a result, a number of people were injured and having been initially treated at the scene, they were later taken to University Hospital Limerick

The accident occurred  just outside the village of Adare at the Lantern Lodge.

A garda investigation is underway and the extent of the injuries suffered are not known.

The road has since reopened to traffic in both directions.
