SHOWTIME on screen: ‘In the Bell’s Shadow’ is a collaboration between dance artist and director Mary Wycherley and contemporary dance pioneer Joan Davis. Dance Limerick on John’s Square is the venue for its screening on Thursday March 31 at 7pm, 75 mins being followed by a talk.
“Vivid imagery, heightened by Jürgen Simpson’s striking original score, featuring the Irish Chamber Orchestra, provides audiences with a unique and thought provoking cinematic experience,” explains Maeve Butler of Dance Limerick. “With stunning performances by Maggie Harvey, Henry Montes, Mary Nunan, Nicholas Twilley, Simon Whitehead and Joan Davis, the film weaves body and symbol through vast and intimate landscapes in a sensuous interplay of humanity and nature”.
The narrative concerns “cycles of life and decay in a world defined by the senses”.
