A MAN has escaped from prison and Gardai are seeking the assistance of the public around the country in tracking him down.
The nationwide appeal comes after convicted murderer Fredrick Lee (51) left Shelton Abbey, in Arklow, Co Wicklow where he had been detained.
The alarm was raised after Lee left the prison at some time between 6.30am and 7.30am this Friday morning.
Lee had been brought back to Ireland in late 90s after his murder conviction in Leeds in 1994.
His whereabouts are unknown.
The 51-year-old is described as being 5′ 9” with brown hair and brown eyes.
Shelton Abbey is categorised as an open and low-security prison and usually used as a stepping stone for release.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information about his whereabouts to contact Garda in Arklow on 04226320 or in Wicklow Garda Station on 040460140.
