LOOK away to south Clare for the annual Doolin Writers’ Weekend this Friday March 4 to Sunday 6. It boasts a cracking line up as well as workshops, music and food from Wild Atlantic Way providers. Anyone for this Mad Hatter’s Teaparty?
The next few days will see winners of the Doolin Short Story and Poetry competitions announced: first prize in each category is €1000 and publication.
Organised by Hotel Doolin, this year’s gig has readings by Joseph O’Connor, Danielle McLaughlin, Elaine Feeney, Billy Ramsel, June Caldwell, E. M Reapy and Neil McCarthy, as well as workshops hosted by Dermot Bolger, Lia Mills, Stephen Murray and E.R Murray.
The man behind it all as a talented novelist himself, Donal Minihane, who runs the host venue – Hotel Doolin.
This fourth Writers’ Weekend hosts music by Scullion’s Sonny Condell and plenty of trad, a seminar with Banshee Lit and. an open mic hosted by Dave Lordan.
We hear of book launches by Catherine Dunne and Anthony Galvin, investigative author. Salmon Poetry will launch ‘Even The Day Breaks’, an anthology celebrating 35 years of Salmon Poetry on Saturday 5 evening.
