SOCIAL Democrat election candidate, Senator James Heffernan has been eliminated in his bid to secure a seat in the 32 Dail after failing to reach the required quota.
The result means that his 5,662 votes are to be distributed amongst the three remaining candidates who are seeking the two seats remaining in the Limerick County constituency.
Independent Emmett O’Brien will be the candidate seeking the majority of those transfers to go his way in a bid to avoid elimination.
The gap however, may be too great as both Fine Gael candidates Patrick O’Donovan and Tom Neville have sizeable amount of votes keeping them in the second and third seat positions after the fifth count.
