SURPLUS votes from the poll topping Fianna Fail TD Willie O’Dea have been distributed at the Limerick count centre at the University of Limerick with AAA candidate Cian Prendiville and Sinn Fein’s Maurice Quinlivan benefitting the most in the transfer market.
Gaining 660 votes, Cian Prendiville moved to a total a tally of 5,244 votes, but he still a way off Labour’s Jan O”Sullivan who is on a total of 5,838.
These two candidates are still off the pace being set by Fine Gael’s Kieran O’Donnell and Sinn Fein’s Maurice Quinlivan who are now just separated by 18 votes with the sitting TD on 6,545 and the local Sinn Fein councillor on 6,527.
Fine Gael’s Michael Noonan, who gained 615 votes from the Willie O’Dea transfer is still the front runner of those yet to be elected sitting on a tally of 7,909.
Candidates eliminated after the second count were;
Denis Riordan (Non Party) – 88 votes
Des Hayes (Non Party) – 314 votes
Nora Benis (CD) – 823 votes
James Gaffney (Greens) – 1081
