Girls Names
“WE’VE never had anything. And we don’t expect to. The only person I ever wanted to impress was myself. I’ve never got anywhere close to succeeding in doing that until this album. I’m proud of it. I think I can start saying I’m a musician now.”
So says Girls Names’ front man Cathal Cully talking about the Belfast quartet’s latest album ‘Arms Around a Vision’.
The post-punk band with shades of Iggy Pop and Bowie in their sound formed in 2010. Over the course of three well received and very different sounding records, Girls Names have reached an audience across UK, Scandinavia and Ireland.
Their last album, ‘The New Life’ was nominated for both the Northern Irish and Irish Music Prizes.
Girls Names play Dolan’s this Saturday February 27 as part of the promoter Seoda Shows third birthday celebrations that also feature Meltybrains and guest indie DJs.
Seoda Shows Party
As well as Girls Names the Seoda Shows Party line up features the party perfect and uncategorizable Meltybrains, bringing the energy, fun and serious talent.
Highly rated Limerick band Slow Riot are one to watch in 2016 and have a new single ‘Trophy Wife’ out soon.
Fangclub will bring the hooks over hard riffs. New all-girl Dublin band Spines is another example of Seoda Shows bringing the most promising sounds to the city early in their career. Indie DJs will keep the party going until bedtime.
