AS PART of an intelligence-led joint operation between Revenue, An Garda Síochána attached to the divisional drugs unit and the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) officers seized approximately 10,500 Benzodiazepine tablets with an estimated street value of €21,000 at an address in Kileely, Limerick this Monday.
The tablets, a type of tranquilizer, which when taken without prescription can have serious toxic effects, had been sent from Austria.
A 59 year-old male was arrested by Gardai and detained at Henry Street Garda Station, under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
However, the male was released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP and investigations are continuing.
