€42 million injection for elderly facilities

A €42 million boost for services for the elderly in the MId West, a move which a senior community health boss has said will secure the future of the facilities.

HSE Mid-West Chief Officer, Bernard Gloster, has welcomed today’s official announcement by Minister Kathleen Lynch of a major investment in public residential facilities for older people in Limerick and the Mid-West.  Some €42m has been committed to improve and in some cases replace our long stay care beds.

The investment up to 2021 sees new add on buildings at St Camillus’ Limerick, St. Ita’s Newcastle west and St. Joseph’s Ennis and .  A complete new facility for Nenagh and continued refurbishment at Kilrush, Ennistymon and Scariff are all confirmed.
