RTE have reached Week Four of the Blind Auditions on The Voice of Ireland and there are four contestants from Clare and Limerick taking part in the talent competition this week hoping to be chosen to go forward to the Battle Stages of the competition.
The coaches this year are Bressie, Una Foden of The Saturdays, Rachel Stevens formerly of S Club 7 and Kian Egan from Westlife and some of our contestants seem to be very big Westlife fans and are keen to work with Egan.
David Idioh (33) Iives in Raheen, Limerick. He hails originally from Nigeria and used to be a big fan of Westlife but never knew they were Irish! He is Musical Director of the Limerick Gospel Choir and lectures in the University of Limerick. He would love to see Kian turn with his rendition of Ben E. King’s Stand By Me.
22 year old busker Clodagh Lawlor hails from Newmarket on Fergus and is also a huge Westlife fan so is really hoping Kian will turn around. She takes on a tough song and puts her own spin on How Deep is Your Love by Calvin Harris and nails it.
18 year old, cool customer, Jordan O’Neill from Sixmilebridge is this week’s 2fm Wild Card His mother filled out the application form for him and says ‘if you have it you have it – and he has got it’. The music obsessed teen sports a tattoo of headphones and performs ‘Stolen Dance’ by Milky Chance. He even manages to fit in a guitar lesson for Rachel Stevens.
Conor Cunningham (22) from Killaloe floors presenter Kathryn Thomas with a lesson in Krav Maga (a form of self defence).
Tune in to RTÉ One at 6.30pm this Sunday January 24 to see how the contestants get on.
