THE Coronas will play a show at King Johnโs Castle on April 30, the first rock band to play the historic venue since The Frames performed there in May 2004.
Mick Dolan of Dolanโs Warehouse in association with Shannon Heritage will host the concert which is set to be one of the hottest tickets of the summer.
The Coronas have a long-standing relationship with the city, playing their first gigs at Upstairs in Dolanโs before moving on to sell-out nights in Dolanโs Warehouse and onto playing the very first Live at the Big Top show in Limerickโs historic Milk Market in 2011.
โI am delighted to promote a show with Irelandโs top act in an historic and unique venue in the heart of Limerick City,โ Mick Dolan told Limerick Post.
โThe rise of The Coronas has been nothing short of remarkable from selling out the O2 in Dublin, to headlining Marley Park and hosting multiple nights Live at The Marquee in Cork. It seems like a passing of the guard, as such, that The Coronas are the first band since The Frames to play in the castle.โ
Since the release of student anthem, โSan Diego Songโ in 2007, The Coronas have developed into one of Irelandโs biggest selling rock acts with three platinum-selling albums to their name. Following the release of the chart-topping first major label album โThe Long Wayโ in 2014, the band embarked on a sell-out tour of Europe and Australia earning a legion of new fans at home and abroad.
Shannon Heritage chief executive John Ruddle said that the castle would provide a unique atmospheric setting and the 2,000 people who are expected to attend would be in for a memorable night.
The Coronas will play Live at King Johnโs Castle on Saturday April 30. Gates will open at 7pm. Tickets priced at โฌ36 plus booking fee go on sale on Friday January 22.
