THE Share A Dream Foundation have paid tribute to brave six-year-old County Limerick girl Alexandra Burke who passed away last Friday.
A native of Effin, Kilmallock, Alexandra spent the last five years battling a cancerous tumour that shows up in the body’s soft tissues called rhabdomyosarcoma.
Share A Dream founder Shay Kinsella likened Alexandra to an “angel” after making her dream of a being a princess for a day come true last Christmas.
Her mother Tracy contacted the children’s charity in November to ask if they could bring Christmas forward for her little girl who was seriously ill and give them all a happy memory together.
Alexandra loved princesses, especially Princess Elsa and Princess Anna from the popular Disney movie ‘Frozen’.
Last month she got to be a real life princess for a day with a parade held in her honour in Kilmallock and hundreds of locals lining the streets to share in Alexandra’s dream day.
“Little did we know we were about to meet the most beautiful little angel and brightest of stars,” Shay told the Limerick Post.
“Alexandra brought so much joy and happiness into the lives of everyone privileged enough to have met her. She was a beaming ray of sunshine and all our Dream Team were so grateful to have had the unbelievable privilege and honour to have played a very small part in Alexandra’s life by making her fondest dream come true.
“She has been an inspiration to us all. Alexandra and all the angels we have been blessed to meet and share so many happy memories with have left a mark in our lives and we will always carry the magical memories of their beautiful smiles in our hearts forever,” he said.
