First Fortnight screens Brian Wilson based film

Love &FOUNDED in 2009, First Fortnight is a charity-based organisation challenging mental health prejudice through creative arts. The Belltable, 69 Oโ€™Connell Street will screen โ€˜Love & Mercyโ€™ this week as part of the movementโ€™s ever expanding programme.
Directed by Bill Pohlad, โ€˜Love & Mercyโ€™ is based on the life of The Beach Boysโ€™ Brian Wilson, with Paul Dano (โ€˜12 Years a Slaveโ€™) and John Cusack (โ€˜Being John Malkovichโ€™) playing the young and older Wilson respectively. This acclaimed yet intimate biopic follows this visionary song-writerโ€™s story from the groupโ€™s 1960sโ€™ musical peak to his struggles with and recovery from depression and mental illness in the 1980s.
Brian Wilson founded The Beach Boys and wrote, produced and recorded more than 20 Top 40 hits for the group. He is is one of the most creative, influential forces in 1960s and todayโ€™s pop music. His 1966 album โ€˜Pet Soundsโ€™ still regularly tops the criticsโ€™ polls for Best Album of All Time.
The Belltable will screen โ€˜Love & Mercyโ€™ on Monday January 11.
