A FATHER and stepson have been sent forward to the Central Criminal Court to face trial for the murder of a man in Murroe in June of last year.
Alan McNamara (48) of Mountfune, Murroe is charged with the murder of 51-year-old motorcycle club member Andrew O’Donoghue at Mountfune, Murroe on June 20 last
Robert Cusack (26) of Abington, Murroe, who is McNamara’s step son, is charged with impeding the murder investigation.
The murder victim, Andrew O’Donoghue (51) was shot as he stood outside the Road Tramps motorcycle compound just outside Murroe.
Sergeant Ted Riordan served Alan McNamara with two volumes of a book of evidence at Limerick District Court and said that the DPP has consented for the trial to be sent to the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.
After his arrest, detention and questioning, McNamara, the court previously heard, replied “I’m sorry” when he was formally charged with the murder.
Judge Marian O’Leary issued the 48-year-old with the alibi warning and remanded him in custody.
A book of evidence has also been served on Robert Cusack.
He is charged with impeding the murder investigation and was remanded on continuing bail to the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court.
