A MAN and his dog have been rescued from a house fire in Limerick city after the man was found unconscious in an upstairs bedroom during the early hours of this Saturday morning.
At 3:20am this Saturday, four units of Limerick City & County Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene at St Alphonsus Street.
A four man team of firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus (BA) kits, rescued a man in his late 30’s from an upstairs bedroom in the semi detached house near the city.
The man was unconscious but breathing.
Firefighters administered first aid to the man until paramedics arrived.
The man was treated on scene by HSE Emergency Paramedics before being transported to University Hospital Limerick.
He remains in hospital.
A dog was also rescued in the incident, he was unharmed.
It’s believed the fire started in the kitchen, but gardai and a forensic technical team are currently investigating.
