IMRO Venue of the Year for Dolan’s, UCH takes Munster.

February 2015: The award for National Live Music Venue of the Year via public vote went to Dolan’s, Limerick. The University Concert Hall won the Best Munster Venue award.

Slow Riot ‘Cathedral EP’
LIMERICK post-punk trio Slow Riot released an explosive EP of brooding indie anthems.

Shardbourne ‘Living Bridges’
Limerick independent record company Out on a Limb released a killer record from instrumental progressive metal band Shardbourne. The full-length debut ‘Living Bridges’ is available on heavyweight double vinyl long player.

Naive Ted
‘Bloom One Rap Cats’,
PRODUCER Naive Ted released three EPs and an album of his productions in 2015. Many inventive highlights particularly ‘Patience’ recorded with Limerick rappers SameD4ence.

WAV MASTERING
Derry singer/songwriter SOAK released her debut album ‘Before We Forgot How to Dream’ on Rough Trade in May. The album featured on the shortlist for a Mercury Music Prize in November. The album was mastered here in Limerick by Richard Dowling at WAV Mastering Studios. Radio hits for Gavin Glass, Johnny Duhan and Little Hours also got the finishing audio touch here in the city this year.

Bleeding Heart Pigeons
IT finally arrived, new music from Limerick’s Bleeding Heart Pigeons. Four tracks led by the eight minute ambitious epic ‘A Hallucination’. The forthcoming album mixed in London with David Wrench who mixed Caribou’s ‘Swim’ drops in January.

Anna’s Anchor
‘the islands’
A tour of the islands this summer took Marty Ryan aka Anna’s Anchor to eight islands off the coast of Ireland in eight weeks to play eight gigs and complete eight new songs. Along the way Marty met many interesting characters, played some unforgettable gigs and written a set of great new songs.

The Islands was an 8 week project that took Anna’s Anchor to 8 different islands to play 8 gigs and write, record and release a song from each island.

 RTÉ Radio 1 have won the Music Documentary Award for “From Dancehall Days to Boogie Nights” at the PPI Radio Awards ceremony, held 09/10/15 in the Raddisson Blu Hotel and Spa, Galway. PPI RADIO AWARDS
2FM DJs Will Leahy and JJ Hartigan won a PPI Radio Award for their RTE Radio One Music Documentary ‘From Dancehall Days to Boogie Nights’ in October.

‘Local Celebrity’
THE Limerick rapper celebrated his notoriety for appearing in the Rubberbandits Horse Outside video and made our favourite Limerick pop record of the year.

dREA ‘Lost in the Water’
Limerick songwriter dREA released ‘Lost in the Water’ with a video from Shane Serrano from the debut album, ‘Bravest of All’.
