Limerick City and County Council has confirmed that water levels along the Lower River Shannon at Castleconnell, Montpelier, Mountshannon Road (Lisnagry) and in the Limerick City area are now 4 inches lower than they were at their peak earlier this week.

The Council says it will continue to monitor the situation in the coming days and over the Christmas period.

Meanwhile, the ESB has today announced its decision to reduce discharge levels at Parteen Weir from 405 cubic metres per second (cumecs) to 370 cumecs.
