UNITED Left TD Clare Daly spent just over one hour in Limerick women’s prison this Wednesday night after she failed to pay a €2,000 court fine for breaching the perimeter of Shannon Airport last year.

Deputy Daly along with her Oireachtas colleague independent TD Mick Wallace were convicted and fined at Ennis District Court.

The pair had until July to pay the fines or serve 30 days in prison.

Deputy Wallace was arrested at Clontarf Garda Station and brought to Limerick prison this Wednesday  – two hours later he was released.

Around the same time, deputy Daly was arrested in Swords Garda Station and she too was brought to Limerick prison and shortly after 10:30pm she was released.

She was just over one hour at the prison.

Both TDs were granted temporary release and add to a group of 189 prisoners released from sentences of less than three months for non payment of fines.

This was an interview with Clare Daly afterwards.

This was Mick Wallace’s interview after his release.
