AFTER the success of Elf’s five performances, Lime Tree Theatre presents ‘Asa, a Christmas Story’ on Monday 14 next and again on Tuesday 15 – school times for Tuesday.
Roll back 100 years in your mind’s eye to 1916 as “a lonely boy creates a magical world that comes to life.. the night before Christmas”. Asa is missing his father so his Mum does her consoling best, giving him the gift of a pencil that has magical powers in Asa’s hands.
Now he is able to set his imagination free, drawing himself into fantastical situations.
“Asa creates a magical creature named Blaze and together they embark on a beautiful and wild journey above Ireland and across the universe. They race Santa Claus, meet Rudolph, chat to a fairy and lots more besides. But Asa will find out that something more special awaits him back home”.
Narrated by Simon Delaney (‘Bachelor’s Walk’, ‘The Good Wife’), music is by the composer of ‘Heartbeat Of Home’, Brian Byrne, who worked on the score of Jim Sheridan’s latest this year. Big screen animation is by Dreambox Animation, choreography and solo dance by Breandan De Gallaí and young Stephen Gallagher is cast as Asa. Kasey Jones has scripted this musical with Byrne.
Three performances only, opening next Monday 14 at 7pm. See in advance on www.limetreetreathre.ie for tickets.
