Peals ring out at Mount St. Alphonsus

-

15-6-14 The Annual Solemn Novena in honour of Our Mother of PerpTODAY, Saturday  December 5, beginning at 1:30 pm the bells of Mount St. Alphonsus will ring out to herald the beginning of the Christmas season and the celebration of 150 years of worship at the High Altar of the Church. The peal will last for just over three hours and be rung by members of the band who came to Limerick last year to ring for the City of Culture celebrations. It will also include one of the Limerick ringers. During the past year the bell fittings have undergone extensive repairs and painting at a cost of โ‚ฌ25,000, and so the peal is also a thanksgiving for the completion of this work. The bells of Mount St. Alphonsus are recognized as one of the best peal of ten bells in the world and the ringers of Limerick are immensely proud to be able to ring them themselves, as well as welcome visitors.
