Keywest: Sellout tours and a Number One album

page2-1007-full

DUBLIN band Keywest have just returned to Ireland from a successful UK tour. The โ€˜Sold Outโ€™ signs went up early for the quintetโ€™s shows in Liverpool, London and Belfast, which is a remarkable achievement as their new album โ€˜Joylandโ€™ has not had a UK release yet.

โ€˜Joylandโ€™, of course, scored a No. 1 spot here in Ireland and stayed in the upper reaches of the chart since. The band who are at home busking on Grafton Street as they are in big venues have created a record that perfectly echoes the sound of Keywest as you hear them on the streets.

Raw and rhythmical, sometimes dark and moody Americana songs alongside acoustic – driven, floor-filling festival anthems.

This album was written on the streets and with those experiences behind it. Songs designed to make you stop and listen. Songs like โ€˜Joylandโ€™, โ€˜Reaper at the Doorโ€™ and โ€˜Soldier Onโ€™ tell of the bandโ€™s journey while tracks like โ€˜iGenerationโ€™, โ€˜All My Mistakesโ€™ and โ€˜Carouselโ€™ will have any crowd singing back on the first listen.

Keywest play Dolanโ€™s Warehouse this Saturday December 5.
