INTERNATIONALLY distinguished soprano Ailish Tynan is welcomed back to Ireland for two Christmas concerts in mid December. The first takes place here in Limerick at St. Mary’s Cathedral on December 17 and the second follows at her home town of Mullingar on December 18.
The string orchestra from the ICO will accompany Ailish for these performances.
Recognised as having tremendous voice and presence from the get-go, she trained at Trinity College, the Royal Academy of Music and London Guildhall before going on to be a Vilar Young Artist. She has since sung in the Royal Opera House and was named a BBC New Generation Artist. This soprano received the Rosenblatt Recital Prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, 2003.
For Christmas she will sing many famous tunes, including the likes of ‘The Fiddlers’, songs from the famous Italian ‘Concerto Grosso’, and hymns such as ‘Oh Holy Night’.
