CELEBRATING Southill Family Resource Centreโs 15 years as central facilitator, hub and project platform is central to โSouthside Storyโ. This is an original performance piece conceived by Southside Womenโs Group and Southside Menโs Shed, with [co-writer, co-producer, co-director] Karen Fitzgibbon.
It will air for one night only, Wednesday December 2.
Lime Tree Theatre is venue and โwe have more than 400 tickets sold already in this 510-seaterโ, a joyful Fitzgibbon told Arts page as far back as Friday 13. โThis is a brand new original storyโ.
โSouthside Storyโ borrows from classics such as โWest Side Storyโ and โRomeo and Julietโ, romantic epics of divide, and brings a cast of 20 to perform. Most have not acted previously.
With the Menโs Shed building the stage and a costume designer engaged to remake the 1970s for the first half of this 90 minute show, โwith songs appropriate to the eraโ, this will be an upbeat variety full of vitality. Thereโs also an interval driven by flamenco guitar, splicing the 90 minute perfomance with another.
Book with www.limetreetheatre.ie if you still can, 8pm curtain. Supported by Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board.
