CELEBRATING Southill Family Resource Centreโ€™s 15 years as central facilitator, hub and project platform is central to โ€˜Southside Storyโ€™. This is an original performance piece conceived by Southside Womenโ€™s Group and Southside Menโ€™s Shed, with [co-writer, co-producer, co-director] Karen Fitzgibbon.

It will air for one night only, Wednesday December 2.

Lime Tree Theatre is venue and โ€œwe have more than 400 tickets sold already in this 510-seaterโ€, a joyful Fitzgibbon told Arts page as far back as Friday 13. โ€œThis is a brand new original storyโ€.

โ€˜Southside Storyโ€™ borrows from classics such as โ€˜West Side Storyโ€™ and โ€˜Romeo and Julietโ€™, romantic epics of divide, and brings a cast of 20 to perform. Most have not acted previously.

With the Menโ€™s Shed building the stage and a costume designer engaged to remake the 1970s for the first half of this 90 minute show, โ€œwith songs appropriate to the eraโ€, this will be an upbeat variety full of vitality. Thereโ€™s also an interval driven by flamenco guitar, splicing the 90 minute perfomance with another.
