VIOLIN maestro Vladimir Jablokov is sharing the stage with his gifted younger brother Anton for their annual winter concert tour. Their ‘Two Brothers’ act celebrates popular classical music by the great composers, with a nod to their Russian heritage blending with favourites from stage and screen.
University Concert Hall has a warm welcome back for them on Wednesday November 25, 8pm concert. It’s just seven months since the launch of their first album, ‘Rubyworks’, back in March when they toured last.
A man who came to Ireland as a tear-away to busk for a living, Vladimir Jablokov has long established himself with concerts and recordings that show his love of both Viennese music and the contemporary pop / crossover genre.
Kid brother Anton is another dazzling violinist with a flair for improvisation. Sons of a gifted Russian violinist and conductor, they have been playing together for almost 20 years.
The third musician on stage is pianist Adam Kuruc, longtime arranger and co-producer. Wednesday 25th will be our privilege to hear them play a gorgeous programme: ‘If I were a Rich Man’, ‘Sunrise Sunset’, ‘Dark Is The Night’, ‘Kalinka’ and ‘Those Were The Days’ as well as well known themes from ‘Dr Zhivago’, ‘The Godfather’ and other cinema favourites.
Book at www.uch.ie for the 8pm mix of contemporary with classics.
