On-Street Parking Made Easier In Limerick Limerick City and County Council today (Thursday, 12 November 2015) launched its own branded mobile parking payments service, Limerick e-Parking. Limerick City was amongst the first cities in Ireland to introduce cashless parking payments in 2008 and is again leading the way with the newly launched customer-friendly service, operated by ParkMagic. With the new service, which is accessible on all Limerick City and County on-street parking areas, customers can avail of 30-minutes parking for as little as €0.50 on a free Limerick e-parking app, a mobile website for smart phone users, by calling a local number listed on the parking signs (061-303093) or via their desktops through the new Limerick E-Parking website, www.limerickparking.ie. The introduction of service means motorists will not be required to purchase parking discs or tickets and can instead pay their parking fee on the new system. Cllr. Jerry O'Dea, Mayor of the Metropolitan District of Limerick joined Elected Members, Council officials and local business representatives for today's launch at Merchants Quay. Customers who do not have smartphones can pay for their parking by calling a local number listed on the parking signs – 061 30 30 93. For more convenience, customers will be able to pay for their parking from their desktops through the new Limerick E-Parking website, www.limerickparking.ie. Existing users of ParkMagic must ensure they have a correct vehicle registration on their account and they can do that by logging into their personal account on www.parkmagic.ie, e-mailing support@parkmagic.ie or by calling ParkMagic Customer Care on 0818 220 107. THE ROW about Limerick City Mayor Jerry O’Dea’s silence over an incident in which his car was involved in a single-car accident continued in the council chamber this week.

Having being refused permission to table a motion for last Monday’s metropolitan district meeting of Limerick City and County Council asking the Mayor to make a statement on the issue, Cllr Cian Prendeville (AAA) says he is taking the matter to the Garda Commissioner.

“I will move at the next meeting that Limerick City and  County Council write to the Garda Commissioner asking her to publish the results of the recent inquiry into why there was no prosecution in relation to the high-profile car crash in Limerick on December 11 2014,” he told the Limerick Post.

Earlier at the meeting, the AAA councillor was voted down when he tried to have a similar motion that he proposed at a previous meeting read into the minutes.

Members voted to accept the accuracy of the record by 13 votes to two with six abstentions.
