BOTTOM Dog Theatre Company returns to the stage for one of its ‘read only’ productions this Sunday November 22 with a new play by Myles Breen. Cast with professional actors, John Anthony Murphy will direct ‘The Book of Joe’, with Liam O’Brien in the title role.
We are told this work is inspired somewhat the biblical story of Job, and “is a real departure for Myles, and a very deep, at times dark, but important and refreshingly honest take on grief and the trials we face in life”.
Four actors engaged in a workshop draft over the summer, each of whom have taken part in the seven years of rehearsed readings of plays that are delivered weekly in one season.
Warning that Sunday 22’s production at 8pm is a work in progress, Bottom Dog welcomes “Limerick actors Frances Healy and Jared Nadin, Dublin actor Martin Maguire and Kerry actress Jeanne O’Connor. All have worked extensively in the industry in Ireland and we are grateful to have such a hard working and talented cast join us on this project, and to truly collaborate to bring it into being”.
Interestingly, a question and answer session subsequently will be moderated by Jennifer Moran Stritch. She is an American academic in the area of grief and loss who is based currently in LIT.
