New guitar app from Limerick improves strumming

SMASH GUITAR LOGO

A NEW fun way to learn to play the guitar has been developed in Limerick. SmashGuitar has been developed to teach people how to strum an acoustic guitar. With a dedicated, audio-visual learning mechanism incorporated, the app can be used to develop rhythm in absolute beginners, practise rhythm styles for budding guitarists and perform popular songs for the more advanced.

Each song can be performed at three levels of difficulty (Easy, Medium and Hard) by using a specialised algorithm to assess the user’s rhythm and gives a score in star ratings.

The team behind the app are based in Limerick, Alan Sheahan (app inventor), David Sims, Kieran Calvert, Elaine Hennessy and Paul Sheahan programmed, designed and recorded the music on the app.
The app is for all ages and all ranges of ability and is available for iPad only on the Apple App Store.
