THE NUMBER of houses valued at more than €300,000 for the purposes of the Local Property Tax stand at 1,500 in all of Limerick city and county.
According to figures garnered in a report commissioned by Finance Minister Michael Noonan in advance of Tuesday’s budget, the majority of houses in the Limerick area – 69,0000 – are valued at less than €200,000.
Meanwhile, 6,900 homes made it into the €200,000 to €300,000 bracket.
The number of homes in the higher slot are small in comparison to Cork county and city where there are respectively 6,700 and 2,000 higher value homes.
In counties Leitrim and Longford. there were no houses declared to be worth more than €300,000, but Galway people appear to be fond of their luxury pads, with Galwegians listing 1,400 homes in the top bracket in the county and 1,800 in the city.
Roscommon, Cavan and Monaghan tied as second lowest in the valuable property stakes, with 100 residents in each area declaring their property to be in the highest bracket.
