PAUL Quinn, an Irish musician, and his wife moved to Australia. There a child was born and on returning to Ireland 10 months later, it dawned on this enterprising family there was nothing to offer small children in terms of Irish music.
Soon to be rectified: they recorded ‘The Speks’, an imaginary virtual family from Glasses Island who make the flute, violin, accordion and guitar sing and swing.
Of the 14 tracks, some 10 such as ‘Twinkle Twinkle’, ‘Dilín ó Damhas’ and ‘Row Row your Boat’ are strung along a new visual show, ‘The Specks’. With a slide-illustrated narrative and super ceol, a delightful story unfolds for Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival. Attend to Lime Tree Theatre on Saturday 17 at 2pm.
