THE top F.A.I Junior Cup tie last Sunday saw Fairview oust neighbours Geraldines with a two nil after extra-time. A.J. O`Connor and David Hannon were on the mark for Fairview.
Another local derby saw Carew Park having to overcome a sticky Southend side by the odd goal in three with Kieran Hanlon and Mark McGrath netting for the Premier side.
Top division side Aisling/ Annacotty were knocked out by Division 1A outfit Nenagh, as the Tipperary side advanced 2-1. Mark McKenna along with Ryan Gilmartin netted for the victors.
As expected Regional got the better of Caherconlish on a five nil score-line with Tom Frawley (2), Ollie O`Driscoll, Shane Fahy and Mick Lyons on the mark for the Dooradoyle outfit.
Janesboro put seven by Knockainey Shane Clarke (3), Thomas Clarke (2), Aaron Nunan along with Oisín McMenamon were on the score-sheet, as Ballynanty were also big winners easing by Cappamore six nil.
Mungret/ Regional had to dig deep to see off Corbally on penalties as the sides shared six goals with the winners goals coming from Byron Fitzgerald (2) and Barry Danagher.
Holycross also made it through as they had a 7-1 home victory over Prospect/Priory while Charleville defeated Athlunkard Villa, 3-2.
In league football, Division 2A sides Cooangh and Hyde recorded wins while in Division 2B those to pick up full points were Abbey, Moyross and Star, while Murroe and Castle Rovers had good victories in Division 3A.
It was full points four St Paul’s and Dromore in Division 3B.
