Soccer – Premier sides advance as big two meet

All premier league outfits eased into the next round with the top clash seeing Fairview and Regional meet in U.L.
Paul O’Donnell’s side emerged as winners on a 3-1 score-line with the goal-getters being Paudie Quinn (2) and Colin Scanlon as Garbhan Coughlan replied.
Ballynanty were the big winners of the day as they saw off Caledonians 12-1 as Kevin Nolan hit four, Kevin Barry (3), Lloyd White (3), Robert Earls and an O.G accounting for the goal-spree.
Aisling-Annacotty were also big winners, putting eight passed Kilmallock, as their ace goal-getter Keith Mawdsley struck four.
Mungret-Regional had to overcome Coonagh by the odd goal in five, with Keith McNicholas (2) along with Eoin Martin netting.
Knockainey also advanced on a 2-1 win over Prospect as John Carew and Joe Fogarty scored for the winners, while  Dean Glasheen got Prospects goal.
Dromore Celtic, from division 3B ousted Summerville B 4-2 with a hat trick from Felipe Pacheco and a strike from Ger Hayes.
Earlier in the week, the Tuohy Cup got underway in Jackman Park, where Fairview, with a 6-1 victory that saw them oust Pike Rovers.George Daffy (3), Colin Scanlon (2) and Paudie Quinn were all on the scoresheet as Jamie Kelly got the Hoops lone goal.
In a Division 1A local derby, Fairview had a good away 3-1victory over Granville. While in Division 1B, there were victories for Cappamore, St Patrick’s and Regional.
Those to record wins in division 2A were Granville, Hyde  and Athlunkard Villa.
The victors in Division 2B were Glenview, Croom, Star, Nenagh and Mungret-Regional while it was wins for Pallasgreen, Kilfinnane and Castle Rovers in Division 3A.
In the only game in division 3B, Athlunkard Villa bagged full points in a four nil win over St Patricks while in the F.A.I U17 Cup those to advance were Regional, Nenagh, Fairview, Aisling-Annacotty, Cappamore and Mungret.
This coming Sunday there is one big game in the Munster Junior Cup, as Geraldines host Pike Rovers in Garryowen. The game has a kick off of 10.30am.
