LIMERICK’S maternity Hospital has been allocated funding to make the much-needed move to a new site at the University Hospital in Dooradoyle.

Jan Oโ€™Sullivan, Minister for Education and Skills, has warmly welcomed todayโ€™s announcement that the Government will re-locate the University Maternity Hospital to Dooradoyle, with the provision of state-of-the-art medical facilities. ย The announcement was part of the Governmentโ€™s โ‚ฌ27bn capital plan announced today.

โ€œI am delighted that under the Governmentโ€™s six year capital plan Limerick will get a new maternity hospital, located on the main University Hospital site at Dooradoyle. ย This will mark a new era for maternity care in Limerick and surrounding counties and is very positive news. ย This is an issue I have discussed many times with my colleague, the Minister for Public Expenditure, Brendan Howlin, and I am very pleased to see this project included in our investment plans for the health service,โ€ according to Minister Oโ€™Sullivan.
