LIMERICK’S maternity Hospital has been allocated funding to make the much-needed move to a new site at the University Hospital in Dooradoyle.

Jan O’Sullivan, Minister for Education and Skills, has warmly welcomed today’s announcement that the Government will re-locate the University Maternity Hospital to Dooradoyle, with the provision of state-of-the-art medical facilities.  The announcement was part of the Government’s €27bn capital plan announced today.

“I am delighted that under the Government’s six year capital plan Limerick will get a new maternity hospital, located on the main University Hospital site at Dooradoyle.  This will mark a new era for maternity care in Limerick and surrounding counties and is very positive news.  This is an issue I have discussed many times with my colleague, the Minister for Public Expenditure, Brendan Howlin, and I am very pleased to see this project included in our investment plans for the health service,” according to Minister O’Sullivan.
