SITTING TD Patrick O’Donovan and Cllr Tom Neville, son of outgoing TD Dan Neville, will contest the next general election for Fine Gael in the Limerick County constituency.
Party members cast their votes in Adare on Monday evening when four potential candidates put their names forward for selection with councillors Jerome Scanlan and Bill O’Donnell defeated.
Deputy O’Donovan secured around 50 per cent of party members’ votes at the selection convention.
Sitting TD Dan Neville has previously announced that he will not be contesting the next election.
In the Limerick City constituency, Minister for Finance Michael Noonan and Deputy Kieran O’Donnell were selected as 2016 general election candidates by Fine Gael party members.
