THE sun made some shy efforts to come out and greet Electric Picnic 2015 but more importantly it remained dry for the weekend, perfect festival weather if you could handle the nighttime chills, reason enough for many to rave on in the woods till dawn.

On Friday Limerick band Bleeding Heart Pigeons impressed with a late night slot on the Body & Soul main stage with the biggest reaction reserved for current epic single, ‘A Hallucination’. The Rubberbandits delivered a gnarly set rocking a packed Comedy Tent with ‘Spoiling Ivan’ and ‘In the Ra’.
Iron Mountain’s trad prog rock proved to be the perfect fit for the busy Body and Soul Main Stage on Sunday afternoon as sore heads were at once soothed and shook up with the Limerick band’s rootsy progressions and got a warm reaction from the chilled out revellers. Paddy Dennehy and The Red Herring entertained in the Trailer Park with two shows over the weekend.
The impressive Limerick created Reciprocity Installation at the Trailer Park included DJ-ing with interior and exterior video mapping onto textures on the re-imagined caravan.
Gig of the weekend: Grace Jones on the Main Stage. What a show with an amazing backing band and the best live sound heard all weekend. Her new single is ‘Shenanigans’ dedicated to her thousands of new Irish fans. Big shows also from Hot Chip, Battles, Tame Impala, Future Islands and The War on Drugs with an epic rendition of ‘Under The Pressure’ from the current album.
Jurassic 5 entertained on Main Stage, Shamir impressed at The Little Big Tent and FKA Twigs performed an immense show at The Electric Arena. Kudos to the trio of creative chaps who fashioned large letters F, K and A out of sticks and gaffer tape and held them aloft in the crowd at the FKA Twigs show. Even ice queen singer Tahliah Barnett couldn’t but crack a smile and thank Electric Picnic for the warm welcome.
