FOLLOWING consultation with the Limerick County Board, Limerick City and County Council will host a homecoming for the Limerick U21 Hurling Team who defeated Wexford at Semple Stadium on Saturday to win the All Ireland U21 Championship title.

The homecoming celebration will take place from 7pm on Thursday (17 September 2015) in front of Limerick City and County Council Corporate Headquarters, Merchants Quay, where the players and members of the management team will be introduced to the crowd.

“On behalf of Limerick City and County Council, I want to congratulate our hurlers for the honour and pleasure they have brought to the people of Limerick by their impressive performances in this year’s All-Ireland U21 Hurling Championship,” commented Cllr. Liam Galvin, Mayor of the City and County of Limerick.

“With an inspirational captain in Diarmuid Byrnes leading from the front, this team has put Limerick hurling firmly back on the map. I also want to congratulate John Kiely, his management and backroom team for steering our hurlers to All Ireland success.

“I look forward to joining the people of Limerick in welcoming them all at Merchants Quay as returning victors and as Limerick’s newest sporting ambassadors,” added Mayor Galvin.
