THE WOMAN charged with the murder of Paddy Redmond at a Limerick City apartment almost two years ago has been found dead in her city flat this Monday morning.
Murder accused Mary Lynch (41), with an address at a basement apartment on Upper Cecil Street in Limerick was facing a trial at the Central Criminal Court after she was charged with the murder of the 65-year-old pensioner at an apartment in Mount Kennett on November 10, 2013.
Ms Lynch, who told gardai she was “not guilty” when originally charged, had been remanded in custody but was granted High Court bail before being returned to the Central Criminal Court for trial which was listed for November 14, 2016.
However, this Monday morning, Ms Lynch was found dead at the front door of her apartment when the landlord called to the building.
Gardai say that an investigation into the death is underway but they say that foul play has been ruled out.
Paddy Redmond was found dead at a neighbour’s apartment in the Mount Kennett complex on the Dock Road.
After the alarm was raised, emergency paramedics and Gardaí battled to save the pensioner’s life but he died a short time later at the regional hospital in Dooradoyle.
Originally from Dublin, Mr Redmond had been living at a number of addresses in Limerick and had moved to the Dock Road complex over 12 months before his murder. He is survived by his three grown-up daughters and estranged wife.
