MORE than 250 people attended the Cliona’s Foundation’s 8th annual cycle last Saturday, to raise funds for the local organisation that provides financial assistance to the families of critically ill children all over Ireland.

The event raised an impressive €5,000 for the Foundation and will enable it to help more struggling families across the country.

With three routes including a 10km for kiddies and beginners, a 40km family cycle and the 90km Cliona’s Foundation Challenge, the event appealed to cyclists with all levels of ability.

The Foundation has expressed its thanks to Halfords in Limerick who provided free bike checks to any cyclists who wished to avail of it on the day.

Cliona’s Foundation was founded in 2007 by Brendan and Terry Ring in memory of their daughter Cliona who died of an inoperable brain tumour. The Foundation has to date raised in excess of €870,000 and has helped more than 230 families across Ireland.  Cliona’s Foundation receives no financial state support and relies on the generosity of the public for support and to ensure its continuity
