PERHAPS best known to audiences today as Hyacinth Bucket in ‘Keeping Up Appearances’, it’s a surprise to realise what an outstanding career Patricia Routlege has had in musicals. She took a Tony in 1968 for Best Actress in ‘Darling of the Day’, New York and 20 years later, an Olivier in London for ’Candide’.
Another highlght was making ‘To Sir with Love’ with Sidney Poitier. Our happy day that this fascinating English actress includes Limerick on her tour of talks, ‘in conversation with’ Edward Seckerson.
Her platform is Lime Tree Theatre on Saturday September 12, 8pm as she recalls her life and career as she prefaces recordings.
Seckerson is chief classical music critic of The Independent newspaper, UK and had a BBC3 radio show, ‘Stage and Screen’.
