WORDSWORTH and his statement that “poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings’ are hinge to a lunchtime lecture and reading at Hunt Museum. Next Tuesday August 25, 1-2pm and free in.
Limerick Writers’ Centre member Pat McMahon will lead. He’s the retired county librarian of Galway County and is an outgoing member of the board of the National Library of Ireland.
McMahon’s lecture will explore war poetry with associated readings. This event is relevant to WW1 retrospection and Heritage Week, August 22-30.
While at the Custom House, make time to examine the parallel exhibition, Fr Frank Browne SJ’s ‘Photographs from the Front’, 36 from his time as a (decorated) army chaplain in the trenches of the First World War.
