BEING shot in various locations around the city, ‘Narcan’ is a short film by Peter McNamara (‘The Bridge’, ‘Loss’) who is a multi award winning filmmaker from Limerick. ‘Narcan’ is in pre-production now with principal photography having begun on August 10. Its cast includes local actors, also Malachy McCourt (‘Gods And Generals’, ‘The Field’ and ‘Righteous Kill’) and Peter Halpin (‘Angela’s Ashes’, ‘Breakfast on Pluto’ and ‘Garage’). New York based talent is lead by Shiek Mahmud Bey (‘Buffalo Soldiers’, ‘Night Falls On Manhattan’ and ‘Flawless’) and Louis Martinez (‘Law & Order’, ‘Orange Is The New Black’ and ‘Gun Hill’).
Academy Award shortlisted composer Patrick Cassidy is scoring the music.
The story is of Sean Ryan, “an Irish paramedic working the unsympathetic streets of New York City. Every day he struggles to manage a fractured personal life..During the course of a 12 hour shift, life changing decisions with irrevocable consequences must be made”.
