A WOMAN in her 30s is recovering this Sunday after being rescued from the River Shannon by swift water swimmers with the Limerick City and County Fire and Rescue Service.
Gardai from Henry Street attended the area behind the station near the waters edge where the woman was shortly after 2.15pm
The woman entered the water as a number of units from the Limerick City and County Fire and Rescue Service arrived but within a minute, two swift water rescue swimmers had brought the woman to the safety of the rescue boat before transferring her care over to the awaiting members of the Emergency Paramedics Ambulance Service at the slipway near St Michael’s Rowing Club on O’Callaghan’s Strand. Members of the Limerick Marine Search and Rescue also attended at O’Callaghan’s Strand after the rescue.
The woman was brought to the University Hospital Limerick after being initially treated at the scene.
