2FM DJ Will Leahy presented a nostalgic look back at the Féile, Trip to Tipp festivals of the early 1990’s in his recent radio documentary broadcast on RTE Radio One on August Bank Holiday Monday.
For a certain generation Feilé was a right of passage, a music festival like nothing that had gone before and a precursor to the likes of Electric Picnic and Oxegen.
The Limerick DJ talks to the people behind the scenes organising the three day festival in Semple Stadium, Thurles that ran for five glorious Summers until the festival had helped pay off the debts of the new GAA stadium.
Will Leahy hears some very funny stories about the acts that played the festival including The Stunning, The Sawdoctors, Iggy Pop and Van Morrisson.
Limerick Post Newspaper gets a mention as Hot Press Magazine News Editor Stuart Clarke relives his first “Feile experience” in the good company of Limerick Post Journalist Kevin Barry when they both worked as music hacks here in the city in the early 1990’s.
